Nasdaq is an acronym for the “National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation System”, which is why you’ll sometimes see it spelled out in all caps. With about 3,500 listings (companies) the Nasdaq is the second-largest stock exchange in the world. This exchange is known for tech stocks and is home to some of the biggest tech companies in the US like Apple, Amazon, and Google. Stocks that trade on the Nasdaq Exchange are traded through an automated network of computers instead of a trading floor.
