The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is one of the most famous stock exchanges in the world and is also the largest in the US. This exchange can be found on Wall St. in New York City, just down the street from the famous charging bull sculpture. Approximately 1.46 billion shares are traded through the NYSE each day, making it one of the premier stock exchanges in the world. Some 2,800 companies trade their shares through this exchange.
If you’ve ever seen movies or depictions of stock trading where there is a crowd of people on the floor with screens all around, yelling out trader jargon, you’re probably familiar with the NYSE. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, do a Google search for the phrase “trader pit”.
